Bento #236 - Police on the Way . . .

Friday, 12th November 2010
"Peep Poo... Peep Poo..." Police is chasing thieves again (~_~). This is the second police bento I fixed, is the same set of cutter I use for this bento. Bento tools is really handy in bento making, it speedup the process and gives good result most of the time. Ever since I busy with work, I have not surf for new tools. It's time to cheer up myself..... (What an excuse!!)

Bento #225 - School Bus

Bento #172 - Mini Aeroplane

This aeroplane was made from cranberry walnut bread. The red oval thing in the middle of the plane is cranberry. It's my first try on this bread, to me it's lacking flavour unless you bit on the cranberry or walnut. Probably Isaac won't like it, so I cut two aeroplanes from the bread, spead some peanut butter on it and stack the two planes together. I think it should taste better (^_^). Fruit of the day is pear.

Bento #169 - Tomica Bento

Another Tomica Bento (*.*), but this time I used the smaller vege cutter. I prepared two tomica cheese and placed them on top of tempura nuggets. Just to share, for nuggets, you can actually bake it in oven instead of deep fried them. You will be surprised by the oil squeezed out from the nuggets even though you not deep fried them. It's less oily and more healthy. I packed some pears into the bento and they were cut into tomica shape too (^_^).

Bento #168 - Police in Duty

"Peep Poo... Peep Poo... Please give way to Police, a thief is trying to escape... " I bought the Tomica cutter from Hong Kong last year, but haven't really utilize it. Recently, Isaac took out his Police City Lego and play with it again, made me think of the cutter is sitting in the box quietly. Here comes the idea to fix Isaac a police car. Just FYI, I have dismantled the LEGO after he get bored so that he will show interest on the it again after some time.

It's a egg sandwich, I put a layer of pan-fried egg in between the bread. Isaac loves egg so much, he was happy to see the egg. But if it's cheese, probably will spoil his mood, because it gonna be a big slice of cheese if using the cutter (^_^).

Bento #75 - Submarine

I only spent half an hour on bento today, it's considered pretty fast to me as I normally spend about an hour (^@^). I cut the ham into wave line, left it in the oven then went and hang out the laundry. By the time I got into kitchen, the ham was ready (^_^).

Oops... now only I realized how come the submarine is above the sea? Probably it is reaching the shore...

I added some fishes into the deep sea (^o^).

Bento #72 - Helicopter

At first plan to decorate the helicopters using cheese, but wanna give a try on egg sheet taught by shoppingmum. My egg sheet wasn't that successful, it's not as smooth as what I expected. Besides, the egg sheet taste abit different after adding diluted corn starch (@_@). Will have 2nd attempt... hehe

The helicopter chassis and screen is made of egg sheet whereas the fan is made of cheese.

Bento #65 - Pneumatic Boat

Wanted to give a try on strip cheese for long time and I eventually took action.

Steps to prepare strip cheese:
1. Use two different colour of cheese, you probably need about 10 slices (5 each), depends on the height you wish.
2. Cut each slice of cheese into 2 (I cut into 3 just incase mission fail, it won't waste so many cheeses *_^, so I only need 6 slices of cheese).
3. Stack two different colour of cheese alternately.
4. Slice the cheese according to thickness you prefer.
5. Wrape them seperately with preserving paper and store in refrigerator in a tupperware.

Do not slice the cheese too thin, else, you will get result like me @_@

Bento #46 - Aeroplane

What a relief after completed CTFL course & exam. That's the reason why I don't have new bento posted last week. Didn't have this kind of formal exam for long long time (my last formal exam was college time :P), it's really painful to stay at home study during weekend.

Finally my angel is back, energy is back, but..... brain like moving slowly, maybe most of the space still occupied by those "Testing Terms". Too bad I can only wrap it off two weeks later if I pass the exam... kekeke....

Looking at the bread, I forced myself so hard to come out something special (fyi, I have few bento was using this kind of bread). I then got this idea from a drawing book. Only a week, all my finger like blunt, but finally still got it done. Although it was abit out of shape, but nevermind, as warm up bento... kekeke :)

Bento #21 - Speedy Car

I copy shoppingmum - Little Car Bento idea. she has details steps on how to do it. My husband also admit that my bento-ing skill improve alot... hehe... make me more confident :)

Don't know why today my boy woke up quite early, probably he knew I have surprise for him. Once the car is fixed, I myself also quite satisfied with the result, couldn't wait to show him. But if the bear with eyes and mouth, it would be better. Now I know what tools I need, I need a face nori puncher. Will try to get from Daiso or 100 Yen shop if possible. I am so lazy to cut manually, as the nori will always stick on my finger.

Isaac very happy with today's bento. If you do not know my boy, here just introduce him abit. Isaac is a boy who easily satisfy and will appreciate things given to him, even a small thing. No matter how bad is my cooking, he will always says "Mummy, thank you for cooking this dish for me, it is very tasty". If you don't believe, you can anytime call "Kakak" (my sis maid who taking care of him after kindi), he always says the same thing to kakak, make kakak very happy. But kakak really can cook good dishes. Same thing goes to the bento, no matter how ugly is it, he will still says "Mummy, thank you for preparing bento for me".
